A Visit From Nonnie and Papa

Nonnie and Papa came this weekend to visit! Tom helped Greg get our Christmas tree...it was the first one our Home Depot sold this year. They also gave us a date night, and had some time alone with their granddaughter. Though we're not sure what Phoebe will find amusing at times, Nonnie and Papa found a couple things that really got her laughing: peek-a-boo and making "bump" noises on the couch. Some of the words they have used to describe Phoebe...beautiful, so good, cute, sweet...it's obvious they enjoy her!

Kindermusik

Every Thursday morning, Phoebe and Mommy go to Kindermusik. We join about 5 other Mommies/Daddies and their babies for a fun-filled hour of dancing, singing (even in rounds!), playing instruments, and learning about how the babies grow and develop in response to movement and music. The really cool thing is that our teacher is Sandy Sherrill, a long time friend, who was dating Greg's grad school roommate (her now husband) when Greg and I met in 2001. Enjoy the pictures! I highly recommend Kindermusik to all Mommies and Daddies with little ones. It is really fun, and we sing the songs and do the dances all the time at home.

Oh Deeda Day!

Deeda came to visit today! He played with me, and held me, and took pictures of me rolling from front to back, which is my newest skill. He also helped Mommy around the apartment by helping organize my closet, getting out the Christmas stuff and putting my seat together. I love my seat...it is so much fun! Mommy says that some day soon I'll eat food while I'm sitting in the seat, but for now I just want to play.

5 Months Old!

For her 5 month birthday, Phoebe wanted to have a pajama day. So, here she is in her 6-9 month size pjs, which fit her well length-wise. No big developments lately, mostly growing and getting more stable in a sitting position. She's also playing with toys more...grabbing for them and shaking them, when she's sitting and on her tummy and back. Happy Birthday, Phoebe!

Beautiful Fall

We have had an amazing Fall this year. Phoebe and I went for a walk through the Fall colors yesterday before they are gone. This beautiful orangey-yellow tree is what we see when we walk up to our apartment. The beauty of Fall reminds me of how much I enjoy experiencing the four seasons.

My First Trip to the Polls

I wasn't completely sure what was happening this morning. I heard Mommy and Daddy moving about earlier than usual, and then Mommy came into my room and got me out of bed. Although I hoped I was going to have an early breakfast, I soon realized that it wasn't my meal routine that was being adjusted today when Mommy bundled me up and strapped me in my mutli-purpose transportation device. At this point I wasn't sure of my final destination: would it be the car or the stroller? Eventually, the votes had been counted and the stroller won.

As I rolled along, I still wasn't completely sure where we were headed; I had never heard of a "poll" before . . . something new! But, Daddy told me all about the elections for President, Senators, Representatives, and other officials. I don't remember all of the details, but I do remember the crowd at that place called "the polls." After we stood in line for a bit, Mommy and Daddy got these long sheets of white paper and funny little pencils. They stepped into little booths, filled in some bubbles and left others blank, and then stood in line again until they fed their papers to a big black machine. Then we headed back home just in time for me to eat breakfast.

So, that's what voting looked like in our neighborhood this morning. How about yours? If you are able, I hope you either voted early or voted today. Being able to have a say in who leads our city, state, and country seems like a pretty amazing thing. I can't wait until 2026 when I'll get to vote for Representatives and maybe a Senator, and then in 2028 when I get to vote for President too! Until then though, remember that some people (like me) don't have the chance to vote. If you do, exercise that right!
