Tradition

Phoebe has received many personal, handmade gifts. They are all very beautiful and special. I want to share one with you today. This "drag around" was made by my Great-Aunt Mamie, who is currently in a nursing home healing from a cracked pelvis. Mamie has established a tradition of making gifts for the children in the family, starting with my Mom, who was the first grandchild in her family. Now, two generations later, Phoebe, the first grandchild in her family, has received this beautiful, playful quilt. Thank you, Mamie!

Two Months Old

Happy two month birthday to Phoebe! We went to the doctor today for her check-up, and she weighs 11 lbs. 2 oz. and is 22.25" long. She is healthy and happy. She seems to like the sound of the crinkly paper on the examining table.

As school begins here in Louisville, so officially begins my job as a stay-at-home Mom. I am so excited to be home with Phoebe, my little student and disciple...my daughter.

You Gotta Have Friends

The past 2 months have been quite a ride. We have learned so much: from books, from websites, from professionals. But it is been so nice to learn from our friends and family as they give needed and welcome advice. It has also been great to be supported along the way by neighbors and friends in the area. We have been so well provided for: through baby showers, through family coming and cleaning, through visits (which provide me with very welcome company and adult time), and through home-cooked meals. Our neighbor Ashley cooked twice for us, and this past Saturday our friends Karen and TJ came, and TJ cooked for us. Karen also fed Phoebe, because Phoebe is now getting a bottle each day to give others a chance to bond with her (mostly Daddy Greg).

Splish Splash

Phoebe has gone from a sponge bath to a bath in a sponge! She has done great in the sink so far. Enjoy the pictures!

Oh Yeah...Well, My Daddy's also an Engineer!

Yes, Phoebe would like to brag a little bit about her Daddy. Not only does he play with her, provide for her, talk to her, sing to her, hold her, kiss her, pray for her each day, change her diaper, and assemble her toys...not to mention many other ways he loves her...he also made her a mobile! And, though her Daddy just finished his Masters of Divinity, he also has an engineering background and is exceedingly creative, as you can see from the pictures of his newest project.

Phoebe is blessed to have such a wonderful Daddy. He shows her in the little and big ways he loves her a glimpse of how much God, the Heavenly Father loves her as well.

A Weekend Away

Last weekend the three of us travelled to Carmel to attend a wedding of a high school friend and to celebrate Phoebe's arrival and other family accomplishments, including Greg's graduation and ordination. Phoebe did great on the trip up (the normal 2 hrs. 15 min.), but the return trip was a little longer, though we travelled the same distance (3 hrs. 30 min.).

Phoebe got dressed up with Mommy, Daddy, Mimi and Deeda for a family picture (see above), and then was cared for by her Great-Aunt Jenell and Great-Uncle Darry and Great-Grandma Viola while we all went to the wedding. Thank you to them! She did great, had fun with them, and, after 6 weeks, finally has a belly button. Another way of saying it...she's now cordless.

On Sunday we spent time with the family, and Phoebe finally got to meet her Great-Uncle Curt and cousin Brett in person. She showed off her tummy time skills and summer wardrobe, seen in the picture above.
