Back to Reality

While Phoebe takes a nap, it's time for me to catch up on all that's happened since the last post...
  • Phoebe turned 3 months old, and is now half way to 4.

  • We experienced an 8 day power outage due to the windstorms that came through our area. We regained power this past Monday.

  • During the power outage, Val and Phoebe spent 3+ days with Mimi and Deeda and had a wonderful time, and Greg gained a new found love for cans of Chef Boyardee and peanut butter and crackers.

  • Nonnie and Papa came to visit and we went to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Nonnie and Greg's birthdays.

  • Greg turned 32!

  • Phoebe is now sleeping 12 hours a night, grabbing her toes, and almost rolling onto her tummy from her back. She is also talking more, which usually comes out as a squeal or "hoo, hoo" sound.

The pictures are of Phoebe hiding in Deeda's collection of animals, including his teddy, and from Nonnie and Papa's visit. Enjoy! It's good to have electricity again, though no TV and computer was actually not so bad for a few days.

Sunday Mornings

So, you are probably wondering, what does Phoebe do when Mommy and Daddy go to church on Sunday mornings, and when Mommy goes on Wednesday nights to hang out with the students? Well, Phoebe goes to the nursery and is loved on and cared for by a team of special men and women. Her teachers the first hour are Ms. Michelle and Ms. Heather, and she has different teachers each week the second hour. Ms. Carol is highlighted in the picture. The Children's Minstry at Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, where we go, is growing under the leadership of Pastor Steve, and Phoebe is able to benefit from it!
On Wednesday night is the student's IMPACT worship service, and Phoebe likes to hang out with the students with Mommy. She listens to the awesome music by the praise band, and to the teaching by Pastor Chris, and then gets loved on by the Youth Workers and students. Above are Kelsey, Katie and Emily. Phoebe tries to be quiet during the teaching time, but she just can't help letting out a baby "Amen" once and a while.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25 NIV

Out for a Walk

We went for a family walk tonight...here's a picture of Daddy and Phoebe at Reservoir Park. Greg actually inspected the building in the background as part of his engineering job.

Just for Fun

Here's Phoebe trying out her new infant seat. She is also modeling one of her new designer bows from Julie in Mississippi. Thank you, Julie!

Intro to the Pool

We returned last night from a weekend at Val's parents. Saturday morning Phoebe met some of Mimi and Deeda's friends at our Baby Brunch, some of whom have known Val since she was 11 or 12 years old. In the afternoon, our friends from West Lafayette and Indy came to meet Phoebe, and we got to meet some of their children as well. What a change from just a couple years ago.

Phoebe also got in the pool for the first time. She was very calm...so calm that she fell asleep in her little raft that Deeda got for her. While we don't know if competitive swimming is in her future like her Mommy, or if she'll just like playing in the water, it was at least fun to see her get her first dip.

Tradition

Phoebe has received many personal, handmade gifts. They are all very beautiful and special. I want to share one with you today. This "drag around" was made by my Great-Aunt Mamie, who is currently in a nursing home healing from a cracked pelvis. Mamie has established a tradition of making gifts for the children in the family, starting with my Mom, who was the first grandchild in her family. Now, two generations later, Phoebe, the first grandchild in her family, has received this beautiful, playful quilt. Thank you, Mamie!
