Why do I go to church?
4. I'm in very good company. Consistently being a part of a community of like-minded people, who have received Jesus' forgiveness for them and believe that God works for the good of those who love Him, is good company! Much unnecessary pain has been avoided in my life because of the wise counsel and help from Christian brothers and sisters at church, both intentional and unintentional. It is good for my life, our marriage, our role as parents, and for our relationships with our family and friends. It's so important that the Bible commands me not to neglect it (see verses from Hebrews below).
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
Our pastor's sermon two Sundays ago was titled "Blessing of Christian Community". Click here to listen to it, and click here to read the summary on Greg's blog.
