A Full Baby is a Happy Baby

Another post from Mommy Val. After a few days of a huge learning curve, encouragement, advice and most importantly, prayers, Phoebe is eating like a champ. She is gaining a little weight, and her bilirubin levels have dropped again, which is really good. She is no longer "under the lights", but instead gets to sleep in her bassinet tonight. If you are interested, bilirubin is produced when red blood cells are broken down. When the baby's liver isn't getting the bilirubin out of her system, the baby becomes jaundiced, which causes her skin to become yellowish. (Thanks to Mimi and Greg for helping me come up with that description!)

She is beginning to make some funny faces and noises, but is mostly just working on being a cute baby snuggled in a blanket, sleeper or chillin' in her diaper. It is so much fun to hold her and watch her sleeping. My favorite thing right now is looking into her little blue eyes when she is looking at me.

Daddy is back to work to bring home the bacon, so a new fun phrase is "Daddy's home!" He has been such an amazing help during this time, showing his servant heart for me and his daughter over and over. I am thankful for the family that God has given us.
